SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - It's becoming almost a yearly tradition that someone is going to reach a career milestone on senior night.

This season senior Cameron Rorick recorded his 100th career point plus graduate student Andre Ramirez and freshman defenseman Zach Carnes both scored their first career hat tricks in No. 10 CSUN's 13-4 rout of UC Santa Barbara.

Rorick became the first Matador this season to record five assists in a game. His 100th career point in his 114th game was his third assist Friday and the primary helper on CSUN's seventh goal.

The Matadors dominated the first period and came out of it with a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Matt Bushton, junior Quentin Abaya and senior Eli Berengut each scored.

The middle frame was as crazy as they come. Freshman Ross Ponce and senior Matt Hoover made it 5-0 with 13:54 remaining. But then CSUN seemed to let off the gas and UCSB took advantage. Tyler Barone, Cole Slenkovich, Vincent Abdallah and Ryan Anderson all scored within a span of 3:58 to make it a one goal game at 5-4. But the Matadors woke back up and pulled away for good. Ramirez scored his first goal at 4:51. Then Carnes scored back-to-back within 44 seconds. Junior Jaime Velasquez finished off a beautiful passing play between himself, Hoover and junior Nik Giers at 1:23. Finally Ramirez scored his second goal just 12 seconds later to make it 10-4. Overall 11 goals were scored in the second period.

CSUN didn't let up in the third period and got goals from Carnes and Ramirez to cap off their hat tricks then finally Hoover scored his second of the game to seal it. The Matadors scored the final eight goals.

Senior Brandon Kalvoda played the first 40 minutes and earned the victory to improve his record to 6-4-0-1. Senior Brandon Hagen played the third period and didn't give up a goal.

The Gauchos received the only two power plays of the game and came up empty.

The Matadors are now 5-0 all-time against UCSB.

CSUN plays their final game of the regular season Saturday at Long Beach State. The Matadors have to win to clinch the No. 1 seed for the West Coast Hockey Conference playoffs next week. Puck drop is at 7:25 PM.
