            There was a referendum vote deadline as of 7:00PM tonight whether Section V Football would move to federation scheduling for the 2019 season.  Out of 76 possible football schools, 72 responded.  There were 53 in favor against 19 not in favor.  The 2019 season will be federation scheduling, since the majority votes are in favor.  Section V Football coordinator, Scott Barker, and the football committee, made up of an athletic director and coach from every classification will begin to work on schedules for the 2019 season. 

Federation scheduling is not new to NYSPHSAA, as many other sections have been using it for a while.  In the past schedules were determined by league alignments.  However, with federation scheduling teams are aligned by classification.  Stay tuned for more information as the football committee moves forward.  Although, the 2018 football season just ended, the Section V football committee work is year round and they are excited to begin federation scheduling for 2019!
