ELKVILLE, IL - DuPage has signed infielder, Kyle Kolb from Roanoke, Illinois, a senior a Missouri Valley College, who played his junior season at Trinity Christian College in Illinois to a contract for the 2019 campaign.

Kolb earned NAIA All-America Honor Mention status last season after leading the Trinity Christian College Trolls with a remarkable .449 batting average. He ranked first in the conference and sixth in the NAIA in that category. He ranked 19th overall nationally in total hits with 88, including 20 doubles, two triples, and four home runs, while driving in 52 runs and scoring 52 runs. Defensively at shortstop, he led the team with 144 assists. His stellar performance led the Trolls to an NAIA National Tournament Opening Round appearance as the CCAC Tournament Champions and eventually earning, "Player of the Year" honors.

Prior to playing at TCC, Kolb spent two seasons at Waubonsee Community College, in Illinois, where he earned second-team all-conference honors twice and was named to the all-region team in his sophomore season.

A 2015 graduate from Roanoke Benson High School, Kolb played varsity baseball for four years and earned first team all-conference honors three times. In his senior season, Kolb, a human hitting machine, hit .519, 5 HR, 33 RBI with nine doubles and 44 runs scored, numbers that stand out almost as much as his pitching that season when in 15 appearances, including two complete games, he posted a record of 6-1 with a 1.65 ERA, striking out 72 batters in 51 innings pitched, holding opposing batters to a .204 batting average.

Scout's take, "Kolb has spent the bulk of his playing time in his career at shortstop, but his best position could be at third base. At 6'3", 215 pounds, he has the frame for a typical elite third baseman. He has a borderline plus arm, making throws across the diamond between 87-90 miles per hour, which falls in the range of what coaches and scouts look for among the top-ranked college third basemen.

He has gap power that could develop into plus power, He hits for average obviously, making consistent contact and has hit enough for power to suggest that the power potential is there to be developed for him to play at third. A gifted defender, Kolb has above average arm strength with soft quick hands with a quick exchange and the reflexes and footwork to cover the hot corner.

DuPage has only signed a handful of players, so it's too early to suggest that Kolb will start a third, but his bat is going to keep him in the lineup, no matter where he plays on defense."
