CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The schedule for the 27th season of Chillicothe Paints baseball, presented by Adena Health System, begins with a home game at 7:05 p.m. at VA Memorial Stadium Thursday, May 30, 2019. Along with draft beer being just $1 on Thirsty Thursday, the Chillicothe Gazette presents Fireworks Extravaganza sponsored by 94 Country.
"The Paints are looking forward to a fantastic 27th season and competing for a second PL Championship! If you or your business would like to become a marketing partner with the Paints, please call us," said Managing Partner Bryan Wickline. "More than 300 games and over 230,000 fans walk through our gates each year at VA Memorial Stadium."
Once again, Prospect League teams will each play a 60-game regular-season schedule that includes limited crossover to the other division. 55 of Chillicothe’s 60 games are against East Division rivals, including 50 games against West Virginia (20), REX (14) and Champion City (16). The Paints will play three games against Normal, and two against a West Division team that will be introduced to the public Monday morning.
The Prospect League schedule is designed to give players a taste of life in the minor leagues with charter bus travel, night games in front of enthusiastic crowds, and numerous overnight series in opponent cities. This season, the Paints play their 60 games in 69 days. With the Prospect League at 12 teams for 2019, most Mondays are scheduled off days.
After a two-year hiatus, the Prospect League All-Star Game returns in 2019, hosted by the Normal CornBelters at The Corn Crib in Normal, Ill., during a three-day break that runs July 22-24.
The league’s 12 teams stretch across five different states, split into two divisions. The Champion City Kings (Springfield, Ohio), Chillicothe Paints (Ohio), Danville Dans (Ill.), Lafayette Aviators (Ind.), REX (Terre Haute, Ind.) and West Virginia Miners (Beckley) will play in the East Division. The West Division includes the Cape Catfish (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), Hannibal Hoots (Mo.), Normal CornBelters (Ill.), Quincy Gems (Ill.), Springfield Sliders (Ill.) and the aforementioned team that will be announced Monday morning.
