KITCHENER, ON - One for the thumb!
The Barrie Baycats defeated the Kitchener Panthers 6-3 on Thursday evening win their fifth league title in a row, and their sixth in franchise history.
Baycats starter Santos Arias recorded the victory, tossing eight innings while giving up one earned run on eight hits and one base on balls, while striking out six batters along the way.
Baycats shortstop Starlin Rodriguez led the way at the plate, going one-for-four with two runs batted in, with both RBI coming off of a no doubt two-run home run to give the Baycats a 5-3 lead.
Panthers reliever Mike Schnurr took the loss, tossing one and one-third of an nning inning while giving up three earned runs on two hits and one base on balls, while striking out one batter along the way.
