KITCHENER – Make it five straight Intercounty Baseball League titles for the Barrie Baycats.

The Baycats doubled the Kitchener Panthers 6-3 Thursday night in Game 6 of the Dominico Cup final at Jack Couch Park in front of 1,900 fans.

Barrie will try next year to become the first team to win six consecutive championships since Brantford did it from 2008-13.

The Baycats scored four runs in the seventh to pull away in the decisive game. Trailing 3-2, Glenn Jackson tied the game with a one-out solo home run. After Ryan Spataro walked, Starlin Rodriguez put the Baycats in front with a two-run blast.

Kyle DeGrace completed the scoring with a double that scored Jordan Castaldo. DeGrace went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run. Jackson added a single and finished the playoffs batting .432.

Santos Arias (3-0) picked up the win, allowing three runs (one earned) on eight hits over eight innings. He walked one and struck out six.

Adam Hawes threw a scoreless ninth for his first save of the post-season.

Brian Burton went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Panthers. Keegan Marsden and Mike Gordner each drove in a run. Tanner Nivins singled, doubled and scored twice, and Mike Andrulis added two hits.

Mike Schnurr (3-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on two hits with a walk and strikeout in 1.1 innings.

Starter Christian Hauck went five innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out six.
