Nova Scotia vs. Ontario
The second to last game of the late games witnessed Ontario attempting to secure an undefeated round-robin record and first place in the round-robin tournament giving them a bye to the gold medal game. Nova Scotia, coming off a three-game winning streak, sought to extend their tournament win streak in the hopes of staying relevant in the National Championship discussion.
To the surprise of many, Nova Scotia, despite playing seemingly the entire first period and a half on defense, held the game tied at 0-0 and 1-1 for a great deal time. However, the lack of offense on the Nova Scotia side and continued penalties would haunt the Atlantic team. After Ontario’s initial goal, Ontario went on a lengthy unanswered run to lead them to a 12-2 victory, an undefeated record and implanted them firmly into the National Championship game.
