KITCHENER – Jonder Martinez struck out nine over seven shutout innings to lead the Kitchener Panthers past the Brantford Red Sox in Game 2 of their best-of-five quarter-final Friday night at Jack Couch Park.
Martinez (1-0) scattered two hits and walked one in the 9-1 win. Kitchener can advance to the semifinals with a win at home Sunday afternoon.
Offensively, Yorbis Borroto had three hits and scored twice. Mike Gordner and Brian Burton each drove in a run and scored once, Zach Johnson had two RBI, Mike Andrulis and Colin Gordner had two singles apiece, Tanner Nivins singled, doubled and had three runs and an RBI, and Mike Glinka drove in a run.
