Castaldo hits for cycle in blowout win over Royals

GUELPH, ON - MVP.

 

The Barrie Baycats defeated the Guelph Royals 20-1 on Saturday evening to improve to 26-8 on the regular season.

 

With the loss, the Royals fall to 16-20.

 

Baycats starter Matthew St. Kitts recorded the victory, tossing five innings while giving up one earned run on four hits and two base on balls, while striking out eight batters along the way.

 

Baycats third basemen Jordan Castaldo led the way at the plate, going five-for-six with two base on balls.

 

His top of the ninth inning triple secured the cycle for him, which is the first cycle in Baycats history.

 

Royals starter Jorge de la Cruz took the loss, tossing four and two-thirds of an inning while giving up seven earned runs on nine hits and four base on balls, while striking out three batters along the way.

 

BARRIE - 20-15-0

 

GUELPH - 1-6-3

 

The Baycats return to action tomorrow night against the London Majors from Labatt Park in London.

 

First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
