Trappers strike first, but big bats and a solid bullpen lead to 9-7 win for Spearfish

The Trappers wasted no time getting things rolling early, scoring two runs in the top of the first seemed to set the tempo of the ballgame. Pierre would later add two more runs from the help of a Tate Ellison RBI double and a solo homerun from Niko Piazza. But that was it for Pierre, the Sasquatch pulled together their offensive power and never let down. The Trappers made strides to come back multiple times throughout the ballgame but fell 9-7.

Seth Brewer started things on the mound for the Trappers but ran into trouble in the third inning when Spearfish’s Aaron Funk brought the Sasquatch back in the game with a grand slam. The Trappers saw pitching appearances from both Arturo Monroy and Joseph Brazil but it was the timely hitting that notched the victory for the Sasquatch.

On the mound for Spearfish was starting pitcher, Keegan Kast. Kast went five innings and despite striking out six batters, allowed six runs. It was the bullpen that carried the Sasquatch tonight as Griffin Teischer held the Trappers to just one run in his four innings of work.

The Trappers continue the road trip in Hastings, Nebraska for a three-game series with the Sodbusters. As the end of the season is near these games are crucial for the Trappers to keep the fight on for the wild card spot in the Lewis division.
