MIDHURST, ON - A comeback victory.

The Barrie Baycats defeated the London Majors 7-6 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 19-8 on the regular season.

With the loss, the Majors fall to 16-10.

Baycats reliever Adam Hawes recorded the victory, tossing one and two-thirds of an inning while giving up zero earned runs on three hits and one base on balls, while striking out three batters along the way.

Baycats right fielder Brandon Dhue led the way at the plate, going two-for-four.

Majors reliever Braeden Ferrington took the loss, tossing two innings while giving up three earned runs on four hits and one base on balls, while striking out three batters along the way.

LONDON - 6-15-0

BARRIE - 7-12-1

BIGGEST PLAY OF THE GAME: Dhue's two-run RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Baycats a 7-5 lead, a lead that proved to be too much for the Majors today.

NICEST PLAY OF THE GAME: With two out in the top of the ninth inning, Majors centre fielder Robert Doyle hit a line drive to shortstop Starlin Rodriguez, who dove and caught it for the final out of the ball game.

NEWS AND NOTES FROM THE GAMEWith today's save -- his nineteenth as a Baycat -- Nagorski surpassed former Baycats closer Kyle Payne for the most saves in franchise history.

Claudio Custodio, who pitched for the Baycats last season, was called-up to Triple-A Buffalo today by the Toronto Blue Jays from High-A Dunedin.

BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM THE GAME: Nagorski -- after struggling the last two seasons out of the Baycats bullpen -- might just be back to being the Nagorski that was an All-Star in 2014 and 2015.

POST-GAME QUOTES: "It's a pretty good accomplishment," said Nagorski when asked about him becoming the Baycats' all-time saves leader. "But you can't rack up a lot of saves with a bad team around you or a bad defense around you.

"I wasn't even aware of it when I was out there to be honest with you, but honestly it's just a testament to taking it one pitch at a time and one game at a time."

"It took some work, I had to go back to the drawing board," said Nagorski about his on-field struggles the last two seasons. "But things are working now and I'm just going to try and keep that up."

"It's a good tune-up for the playoffs," said Nagorski about today's competitive game against the Majors. "It's important because when you are in those situations when it actually counts, you can say 'ok, I have been here before,' and that helps because it can help you relax a little bit when you are out there."

The Baycats return to action Tuesday evening against the Toronto Maple Leafs from Christie Pits in Toronto.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
