BURLINGTON – The Burlington Herd, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), announced today the signing of Washington Nationals prospect Conner Simonetti for the remainder of the 2018 season.
A 13th round draft pick by the Washington Nationals in the 2016 MLB Draft, Conner spent two seasons in the Nationals organization.
Simonetti, a Rochester, NY native, joins the Herd after spending the last two seasons with the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League. In 21 games played for the Crushers this season, Conner recorded three doubles, two home runs and five RBI.
His best season came last season when he recorded a .313 average with ten doubles, a triple, five homeruns and twenty-one RBI.
The Kent State alumni spent three seasons with the Divison I program before turning pro.
The Burlington Herd are a member of Ontario's most elite baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
