Like the Weather, Bats Are Scorching Hot

Date:  Source: IBL: Kitchener Panthers/K-W Junior Panthers

The weather wasn’t the only thing that was hot on Jack Couch Park on Sunday afternoon when the Cardinals came to town.

Hamilton got on the board in the 1st with a leadoff home run off of Panthers starter Noelvis Entenza and it looked like it could have spiraled there for Entenza who then hit the next batter and walked the one after that.  Entenza would recover and strike out a pair in the inning to escape the jam.

The Panthers got to Cardinals starter Josh Freeman early and often in this game.  They tagged Freeman for 3 runs in the 1st inning with Mike Gordner bringing 2 home on a double.  Tanner Nivins would bring 2 more runs in in the 3rd inning on a 2 run home run.

The Cardinals would get to Entenza again in the 5th inning on a 2 run blast by Grant Arnold.  Kitchener would answer again with Mike Gordner lacing a RBI single in the inning to extend the lead to 7-3.

The Panthers would blow the game wide open after that against the Cardinals bullpen scoring 9 times from the 6th inning on.  Chris Iltshishin smacked a pinch hit home run in the 8th inning with Ryan Douse, Yorbis Borroto, and Brian Burton also picking up RBI knocks in the inning for a 15-3 Panthers win.

The Panthers are back home on Thursday night when they take on the Barrie Baycats, 1st pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm.
