Czech, Seidel Named Player & Pitcher of the Week

ELKVILLE, Ill. - The Prospect League, in conjunction with Pointstreak and Stack Sports, is pleased to name Andrew Czech (Chillicothe Paints / Walsh University) and Austen Seidel (Quincy Gems / Cloud County Community College) Player and Pitcher of the Week.

 

Czech, from Twinsburg, Ohio, hit .462 (12-for-26) over seven games during the week. The six-foot-six, 260-pound first baseman hit three doubles, a triple, a home run and drove in 8. He also stole a base for the Paints. On the season, Czech currently leads the Prospect League in slugging (.675), tied for second in hits (15), third in total bases (27), tied for third in doubles (4), tied for third in extra-base hits (7), tied for third in on-base percentage (.500), and tied for fourth in batting average (.375). 

 

Seidel, from New Braunfels, Texas, made two appearances on the week for the Gems, totaling eight innings. The six-foot-three, 195-pound right-hander didn’t allow a run and only surrendered two hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 11. Seidel started and earned the win in Quincy’s June 12 game against Lafayette. He allowed just two hits and struck out eight. In two starts and three appearances on the season, Seidel holds a 1-0 record, a 2.38 ERA and has struck out 16 batter over 11 1/3 innings.
