Cardinals Re-Sign Local Slugger Renaud
Date: Mar 5, 2019
It was a homecoming of sorts on Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch. The Panthers welcomes the visiting Guelph Royals to town, the only difference was this Royals team has a bunch of former Panthers.
It was former Panther Justin Interisano who got the Royals on the board in the top of the 1st when he lined a single into center to score another former Panther Josh Garton. Panthers starter Noelvis Entenza looked a little off in the 1st inning but settled in after that. Entenza would set the Royals down in order in the 2nd before the Royals would scratch another run across in the 3rd. Adam Rossit lead off with a single and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball. Rossit would take 3rd on a ground out and scored on a RBI ground out by another former Panther Sean Reilly.
With Guelph leading 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd it was the Panthers turn to put some runs up. Andy Leader and Yorbis Borroto had back to back walks off of Royals starter Yomar Concepcion. After a Mike Glinka bunt would put the runners into scoring position Tanner Nivins had a RBI ground out and Keegan Marsden continued his hot hitting with a RBI double to knot the score at 2.
We would stay tied at 2 until extra innings thanks to fantastic pitching by Entenza, Schnurr and Miguel Lahera for the Panthers and Concepcion and Edwin Javier for the Royals. Concepcion pitched all the way into the 10th for the Royals while only allowing 3 hits through 9 innings.
The Panthers would load the bases in the bottom of the 10th but Javier escaped the jam to send the game to the 11th. In the bottom of the 11th Mike Gordner sent a rocket out to right through the howling wind for a walk off home run to give the Panthers a 3-2 win over their Higway 7 rivals.
