The Canadian Lacrosse Association is seeking a candidate to fill the full time position of Program Coordinator at the head office in Ottawa, Ontario. 
 
The Program Coordinator will communicate and collaborate with all CLA partners to effectively administer and deliver both ongoing and new programs, events and projects that will foster increased national development in the sport of lacrosse. These programs and projects include, but are not limited to, the areas of athlete development, coach development, and officials development.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR

PURPOSE
The Program Coordinator will communicate and collaborate with all CLA partners to effectively administer and deliver both ongoing and new programs, events and projects that will foster increased national development in the sport of lacrosse. These programs and projects include, but are not limited to, the areas of athlete development, coach development, and officials development.
 
The Program Coordinator will liaise with the following on an ongoing basis:
  1. CLA Staff
  2. Board of Directors
  3. Member Associations
  4. Sector Chairs (Box, Men’s Field, Women’s Field) and Committee Chairs (Coaching, Officiating)
  5. Committees (LTAD, NOCP, Safety and Equipment, Indigenous Development, Lacrosse FITS) and Equipment, Indigenous Development, Lacrosse FITS)
  6. Sport Canada
  7. Coaching Association of Canada (CAC)
  8. Aboriginal Sports Circle and other Aboriginal agencies (NAIG)
 
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Coaching Development

    a) Supporting the Coaching Committee, its relevant sub-committees and project teams, in developing and delivering the NCCP program:

  • Coordinate, communicate and administer work related to the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC)
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the coaching education program and manuals in coordination with the CLA Coaching Committee Chair
  • Support the development and delivery of the NCCP (Community Coaching, Introduction to Competition, Competition Development, etc.)
  • Complete the grading and processing of coach evaluation workbooks
  • Coordinate the online coaching program
  • Assist in maintaining and updating participant and Coach Developer (LF) materials
  • Organize training opportunities where applicable
  • Review clinic information entered in “The Locker” database
  • Follow up on requests to assist with missing certification records
  • Process applications for equivalency
  • Verify coach certification for national championship and national team coaches
 
    b) Support the development and delivery of High Performance Coaching Development Programs:
  • Assist with the scheduling and coordination of sport specific National High Performance Coaching Seminars, and other special coaching development courses as necessary
  • Oversee the production and delivery of educational videos or other training resources
  • Assist national team coaches in obtaining required coach certification
 
  1. Officials Development
    a) Supporting the Officials Committee, its relevant sub-committees and project teams, in developing and delivering programs:
  • Support the development and delivery of the officials program (participant, evaluator and clinicians materials)
  • Collect, process, and file registration forms as appropriate
  • Assist in the selection of officials to international championships
  • Follow up on requests to assist with missing certification records
 
  1. Athlete Development
    a) Ensure development, communication, implementation and maintenance of a Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) plan, in partnership with the MAs, sectors and greater lacrosse community:
  • Promote and encourage the vertical and horizontal integration of coach and athlete development at all stages of the CLA LTAD model
  • Encourage and promote MA and club alignment with LTAD principles
  • Encourage and promote MA and club program alignment with CLA’s Athlete Development Grid
  • Promote and encourage LTAD-aligned competitive activities nation-wide
  • In cooperation with MAs, coordinate and help implement promotional initiatives to expand athlete development programs and initiatives
 
    b) Support the delivery of Sport Participation Development Programs initiatives:
  • Prepare and circulate application forms and technical guidelines
  • Promote opportunities
  • Process application forms and assist in selection of recipient applications
  • Develop and ship program materials
  • Monitor compliance to program guidelines; keep accurate records and collect reports
 
  1. Other Programs
  • Monitor the progress of existing programs and provide leadership in the development of new programs nationally
  • Provide effective program management, ensuring timely implementation and evaluation
  • Assist and communicate with Association Committees and project leaders to ensure completion of work
  • Liaise and communicate with all Sectors to ensure completion of approved projects within allocated funding and reporting to the Directors of the Association
  • Liaise and oversee the preparation of Association technical manuals and national clinics
  • Liaise with and coordinate committees as assigned including but not limited areas such as NOCP, LTAD, Aboriginal Development, Lacrosse FITS, and Safety and Equipment
  • Administer the completion of assigned program area tasks and objectives as per the CLA strategic and operation plan
  • Coordinate the planning and completion of Safety and Equipment Committee meetings and technical bulletins
 
  1. Administration
  • Attend staff meetings and provide updates on assigned program areas
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation and reports from Sector and Committee Chairs
  • Assist and communicate with CLA partners, including MAs, NOCP and Sector chairs
  • Liaise and provide administrative support to the various Sectors
  • Liaise with the MAs on programming and technical issues
  • Manage budgets for specific projects within area of responsibility
  • Support the creation of promotional materials and publications (e.g. posters, flyers, videos, etc.)
  • Support the maintenance of program area content on the CLA’s website
  • Maintain master copies of all major resource manuals and documents that are published
  • Complete funding requirements and reports for assigned program areas to support funding agencies, including Sport Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada
  • Coordinate and meet with MA Executive Directors on a quarterly basis
  • Monitor and report to the Board of Directors twice a year on operational and strategic plan progress, risk registry issues
  • Submit a report on various project and program areas at the semi-annual and annual meetings
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors
 
  1. Meetings
  • Attend the meetings of the Association
  • Assist in the planning and attend scheduled meetings of Committees, Sectors and Board of Directors
  • Attend scheduled meetings with identified internal and external partner groups
  • Provide program data for reports as requested by the Board of Directors, Sector and Committee Chairs
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports of Sector and Committee Chairs
  • Obtain and compile project requests from various Sectors for review by the Association
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-Secondary education in sports management, project management, or related field
  • Ideally 3-5 years experience working in a similar capacity in sport
  • Experience administering the NCCP and familiarity with ‘The Locker’ database
  • Experience administering officials development programs
  • Experience coordinating the writing and production of publications, manuals, and training materials
  • Understanding of LTAD principles and the Canadian Sport for Life program
  • Above average ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and work as part of a team
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to think critically and be a problem solver
  • Strong ability to communicate with and to manage volunteer committees
  • Experience working with volunteers in a non-profit organization
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Technical knowledge of lacrosse is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset
 
 
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work occasionally during nights and on weekends
  • Occasional travel within North America to attend meetings or events

REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director
 
 
SALARY
Salary to commensurate with experience.  A comprehensive benefits package will be offered as a part of the compensation package.
