2017-18 ACHA Women's D2 Rankings #3
Date: Feb 1, 2018

The ACHA released another round of rankings for Men's Division 3 on November 22nd, and the multitude of games between Atlantic Region teams at The Classic caused an expected shakeup in the order of the teams. Accordingly, an overall subpar performance by College Hockey East teams at The Classic meant the shakeup did not work in favor of the CHE squads.
In fact, after increasing to five teams within the region's Top 15 in the previous rankings, only three CHE teams remained in that group this time around. Robert Morris exited after a one-week stay, and Penn State Behrend dropped from #10 to outside the Top 15.
Cal U of PA, Pitt-Johnstown, and Fredonia State all remain inside the Top 15 of the Atlantic Region. However, Fredonia State fell from #8 to #12, putting them on the wrong side of the cutoff for the regional tournament. Pitt-Johnstown, despite a 1-1-1 record during the rankings period, fell three full spots to #9 in these rankings. Technically, Cal U of PA stayed even at #7, but the unexpected appearance of a new team in the #2 spot in the rankings means that the Vulcans actually gained on the previous competition.
ACHA Men's Division 3 has implemented computerized rankings for the 2017-18, with a new rankings released after each weekend of games. The final rankings period will comprise all games played through February 11, 2018, which then sets the field for the ACHA postseason. The Top 2 seeds in the Atlantic earn a trip to the ACHA Men's Division 3 National Tournament in March, held again in Columbus, OH. The next 8 teams advance to the Atlantic Regional Tournament on February 23-24, where two more teams will earn their way to Nationals.
