In anticipation of Monday's Groundbreaking, Prospect League Commissioner Dennis Bastien offered the following remarks:
"It is with great pride that we congratulate Malone University, Mr. DeVille and Mr. Thompson on the culmination of a lot of hard work in their ceremony today. On behalf of the Prospect League, we are extremely proud that a yet-to-be-named franchise will be the summertime partner of Pioneer Park," Prospect League Commissioner Dennis Bastien proclaimed.
"I have met with Mr. King, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Maculaitis, Coaches Crank and Thompson at the site, have had countless phone conversations and emails back and forth, and am excited on behalf of our league, that this day has come. We look forward to many years of a Canton franchise being a great member of the Prospect Summer Collegiate Baseball League," Bastien continued.
"I know this has been a long time coming and in the works, so enjoy the day and the efforts that brought it all together. This will be a phenomenal addition to the Canton region, Malone University and our league. A tip of the Prospect League cap to all," said Bastien.
