Canada Makes Adjustments to World Cup Roster, Names Alternates

Team Canada has made some adjustments to its roster for next month's 2017 FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup, adding midfielder Quintin Bullen and naming attackers Tessa Chad and Holly Lloyd as alternates.

Bullen, a native of Severn, Ont., was recently named the 2017 Orillia Athlete of the Year. The University of Denver commit, who studies at The Hill Academy in Vaughn, won a provincial championships last summer with the Orillia U19 team. It will be her first time representing Canada on the international stage.

"We're excited to add Quintin to the roster," said head coach Scott Teeter. "We've followed the progress of a number of players that took part in our selection camps and when the opportunity arose to add a player of Quintin's caliber we did."

Alternates Tessa Chad (Orono, Ont.) and Holly Lloyd (Glen Ridge, NJ) will also travel to Guildford, England with the national team. Both players helped Canada win gold at the 2015 FIL U19 Women's Field Lacrosse World Championship in Edinburgh, Scotland.

"Tessa and Holly will be an integral part of our preparations for the World Cup," added Teeter, "and will be counted on to fill in should any injuries arise."

The team will gather in Oakville from July 7-9 for a final training camp before heading across the Atlantic to compete against 25 other countries for the World Cup, which runs from July 12-22. A condensed roster will then make its way to Wroclaw, Poland for the 2017 World Games from July 26-30, which will mark the first time that lacrosse will be part of an international multi-sport event.
