Cardinals Re-Sign Local Slugger Renaud

GUELPH – Three London Majors pitchers combined to one-hit Guelph in a 16-0 win to spoil the Royals' season and home opener Saturday afternoon.
Majors' starter Murilo Gouvea gave up the lone hit, a single to Jeff MacLeod to lead off the bottom of the second inning. Gouvea (1-0) went six innings and struck out eight without issuing a walk.
Todd Leavitt and LeJon Baker finished up with three scoreless and hitless innings.
Offensively, Baker went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Brett Sabourin singled, tripled and drove in three runs, while Chris McQueen singled and had an RBI.
Carlos Arteaga and Kyle Gormandy each had a hit and scored three times. Arteaga also had an RBI.
London improved to 4-0.
For Guelph, Daniel Marquez (0-1) took the loss after giving up seven runs on five hits in 2.1 innings. He walked six and struck out two.
