Guelph, ON - The Guelph Royals Opening Day 2017 scheduled for Saturday, May 13th against Hamilton at David E. Hastings Stadium has been postponed, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
Guelph's home opener is the third (London and Toronto) throughout the Intercounty Baseball League to be called off due to inclement weather at the time of this release. Despite precipitation moving out of the Guelph area, the playing surface still could not be salvaged in time for safe, playable field conditions.
"I am Looking forward to continue the building process with a young team for season 99" said Royals Field Manager Steve Scagnetti. "Let's hope mother nature starts to smile on us and all in the IBL."
The game scheduled for Saturday versus Hamilton will be rescheduled to a future date in June.
The Royals home opener will now be scheduled for Saturday, May 20th versus the London Majors at David E. Hastings Stadium. First pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
