AWL LHP TJ Pruneda has signed a contract with the Algodoneros de San Luis. The Algodoneros play as a member of the Liga Norte de Mexico, a Minor League Baseball-organized farm system in Mexico. Prior to attending the AWL, Pruneda played for the Roswell Invaders of the Pecos League where he was 5-1 with a 6.28 ERA in 76 innings. He had an impressive 47 Ks with only 16 walks. Originally from Oregon, Prundea attended Clark College in Vancouver, Washington.
During the AWL Season, TJ served as a workhouse LHP for the Laredo Apaches, throwing 34 innings and finishing with a 2-1 Record and 3.14 ERA, including a Complete Game Shutout.
AWL CEO Jose Melendez, who also serves as President of the Pericos de Puebla, was impressed with Pruneda and eventually signed him to the organization where he will be designated to the team's affiliated Algodoneros club. When asked what stood out about TJ, Melendez said, "He's willing to throw everyday, he's gutsy on the mound and has no fear. He has a great attitude and will fit in well with the winning culture we are trying to establish in San Luis."
Best of luck TJ!
