Meet the Teams...Ontario

Date:  Source: CLA Founders' Cup

The Green Gaels were founded in 1946 by the iconic lacrosse builder, coach and CLA Hall of Fame member, Jim Bishop.  As a Junior “A” team, the Gaels won the Minto Cup for an unparalleled 7 consecutives times (1963 to 1969) and have taken home the Founders' Cup on four occasions (1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004). In 1997, the Gaels moved from Oshawa to Bowmanville.  The move sparked a revival of lacrosse in the Bowmanville area which resulted in the subsequent formation of the highly successful Clarington Minor Lacrosse Association. The Green Gaels are proud of the role they have played in the rich lacrosse history of the Durham area and look forward to participating in this year’s Founders' Cup tournament.
