Co-founded in August 2013 by long-time friends Charles Scanlan and Michael Snyder, the Seneca War Chiefs are one of the four founding teams in the Iroquois Nations Junior B Lacrosse League - renamed the First Nations Jr. B Lacrosse League (FNJBLL) in 2015. The War Chiefs are coached by long-time National Lacrosse League (NLL) player and coach Darris Kilgour, who is the winningist coach in NLL history.
The Seneca War Chiefs played the first league game in FNJBLL history on May 24, 2014, when they defeated the Tonawanda Jr. Braves 27-4 at Cattaraugus Community Center. To date, the War Chiefs have yet to lose a FNJBLL regular season game as they have gone 32-0. In the playoffs, the team has amassed a 6-1-0 record in its 3 year existence.
This year’s team brings a 12-0 record to the Founders' Cup Tournament. This will be the 3rd consecutive year the War Chiefs will be representing the FNJBLL at the Founders Cup. In our two previous appearances, we played in the gold medal game. Last year the team lost to the Akwesasne Indians in overtime.
The War Chiefs are looking forward to making the trip to Orangeville in a few weeks for the 2016 Founders' Cup competition.
