Player of the Week: Mark Lemos

This week’s most decorated player goes out to Mark Lemos of the Monarchs. Lemos and his team had

an incredible game against the then-undefeated Woes. Woes started the game with a 12-0 run in the

opening 4 minutes, leaving the crowd with thoughts on the game being over before it even began. Woes

were even leading by as many as 16 points with only 5 minutes left in the game. But Monarchs weren’t

going down that easy. Led by Lemos, the Monarchs forced turnovers and got the stops they needed,

including 2 key back-to-back steals, followed by a drained 3-pointer from Lemos; and just like that it

became a 2-point game with under a minute remaining. After Monarchs tied the game at 76, Lemos

forced another steal, and being the fastest player on the court, raced down the court for a layup to bring

his team up by 2 with only 16 seconds left. Woes were not able to score, and Monarchs were fouled,

ultimately winning the game 80-76. Lemos scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting, along

with 3 key steals, solid defense, and a clutch performance to lift his team and maintain their undefeated

standing.
