The OHA would like to congratulate four players who have made the 2014 NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. Ontario Junior Hockey Leagues Jake Walman (ranked 60th), Jake Evans (ranked 104th), Michael Prapavessis (ranked 137th) along with Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League star Connor Murphy (ranked 174th) have each demonstrated an ability to make big plays in big games.

The following is a brief break down of what landed these four stand out players from the OHA a spot on the “Big List”.

At 17-years-old, Jake Walman has truly made an impact early on in his Junior Hockey Career. So much so that the first year Toronto Junior Canadiens defenseman was selected 60th to headline OHA players in the Midterm Rankings. Scoring five goals and 19 assists while constantly facing the best scorers in the OJHL has made this young man something to talk about around the league. While playing with Team Canada East at the 2013 World Junior A Challenge he managed to score two assists in a tough tournament for his team.

The St. Michaels Buzzer’s would not be the same if it wasn’t for third year forward Jake Evans. Ranked 104th overall, Evans has proven that his size and speed can be an asset to any club. This seasons Evans has managed to net 13 goals and 27 assists in 36 games. His 40 points are a big reason why other teams dread playing against the Buzzer’s. In the 2013 World Junior A Challenge, the Toronto native managed to net a goal for Team Canada East.

The second defenseman to make the Midterm rankings is Toronto Lakeshore Patriots 6-1, 180lbs Michael Prapavessis. Selected 137th overall, Prapavessis is currently enjoying his second season with the OJHL club where he’s become an impact player and shut down defenseman. Helping to quarterback the power play, this gifted passer has managed to obtain 32 assists as well as three goals in 34 games. In the 2013 World Junior A Challenge, the Oakville native netted two assists.

Not very often is a player from the GOJHL selected in the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. This season however, they were unable to keep Caledonia Corvairs forward Connor Murphy off the list. Last season, this Ancaster native netted an impressive 71 points (26 goals, 45 assists) in 51 games with the Junior B team. This season, he’s already surpassed last season’s totals, scoring 23 goals and 49 assists in just 35 games. In the 2013 GOJHL Prospects game this past December, Murphy netted two goals.

Congratulations to all four OHA players for making the 2014 NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. Keep up the good work boy’s; we look forward to seeing you playing the game you love for years to come.
