Cambridge, Ont. - The 2022-23  Allan Cup Hockey (ACH) season gets under way the first weekend of December but there are some sweeping announcements to share.
The ACH is pleased to announce Rick Richardson has agreed to become the new Commissioner of the ACH. Richardson is the former Chair of the OHA Board of Directors and also represented the ACH at the OHF and Hockey Canada. His knowledge of the brand and its significance is well documented and the league is pleased to have him onboard.

“On behalf of the ACH, we would like to thank Tom Strauch for his years of dedication and support to senior hockey in the Ontario Hockey Association. Strauch has decided to step down as Commissioner to dedicate more time to his family. We wish Strauch and his family all the best and are grateful for his contribution to the ACH," stated ACH league Chair, Don Robertson.

“We are fortunate to have Rick join us and carry on Tom’s work as we move to grow the brand across the OHA footprint,” added Robertson.
“I’m pleased to be able to get back involved with the ACH again during these exciting times and look to guide the league as it looks to bolster its position as the premier senior hockey League in the Province. We also continue to work to host the Allan Cup this April in Dundas,” said Richardson earlier this week. "I’d also like to personally thank Tom for his contribution to the ACH and wish he and his family well,” added Richardson.

Two new franchises have joined the ACH for the 2022-23 season. The former Flamborough Ducks will now be known as the Wentworth Griffins and the Brampton Buccaneers have also joined the ACH.  As well, the Hamilton Steelhawks will play at Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena on Hamilton Mountain as the Hamilton Steelers.
