Denver falls to Allen in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Jonathan Lessard gave the Allen Americans a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Denver Cutthroats when he scored 3:53 into the extra period.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Denver faces elimination next time out.

Lessard had two goals and one assist to lead Allen. Lessard scored the first of his two goals at 14:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Ludwig provided the assist. Lessard's next tally made the score 4-3 Allen with 16:07 left in overtime. Steven Tarasuk picked up the assist.

The Americans' penalty kill excelled, as Allen gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Americans' offense rang up 48 shots on the Cutthroats' net.

Allen also had goals scored by Daniel Tetrault and Jamie Schaafsma, who scored one goal each. More assists for Allen came via Mike Berube, Greger Hanson, Kale Kerbashian, Bruce Graham, and Ross Rouleau, who each chipped in one.

Denver excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Allen was unable to stop the Cutthroats from sending pucks towards the net, and Denver eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

The Cutthroats were helped by Aaron MacKenzie, who grabbed one goal. MacKenzie scored 4:58 into the second period to make the score 2-2. TJ Fox provided the assist. Others who scored for Denver included Robin Soudek and Jean-Philipp Chabot, who each put in one. In addition, Denver received assists from Lee Moffie, Sean Zimmerman, Troy Schwab, and Cam Reid, who contributed one each.

Bryan Pitton made 44 saves for the Americans on 47 shots. Allen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Kent Patterson recorded 44 saves for Denver. The Cutthroats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
