Behind a great game by Anthony Maiani, who had one goal and three assists, the Allen Americans defeated the Brampton Beast, 7-2. Maiani got on the board by slotting home a goal 3:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Allen. Jonathon Zion picked up the assist. Maiani dished an assist on Darryl Bootland's goal that made the score 2-0 Allen at 1:34 into the first period. He then added assists on Bootland's goal at 4:45 into the second and on Tyler Ludwig's goal at 13:01 into the second.The win gave Allen a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Americans forced Brampton's netminders to work between the pipes, finishing with 46 shots and forcing 39 saves. Kristofer Westblom made eight stops and Grant Rollheiser made 31. Allen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brampton power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Allen additionally got points from Daniel Tetrault, who also registered one goal and one assist and Bootland, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Jonathan Lessard also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Greger Hanson, who had two and Brian McMillin, Steven Tarasuk, Bruce Graham, Jamie Schaafsma, Garrett Klotz, and Spencer Asuchak, who contributed one each. The Beast were led by Michael MacIsaac, who had one goal and one assist. MacIsaac scored 1:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Matt Williams assisted on the tally. Brampton also got a goal from Chris Duszynski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Thomas Stajan, who had one. The Americans' Bryan Pitton stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Allen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
