The Denver Cutthroats' Jean-Philipp Chabot scored 12:18 into overtime to beat the Tulsa Oilers, 3-2 (OT). The win by Denver broke a deadlock and gave the Cutthroats a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Denver was led by Chabot, who registered one goal. The Cutthroats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Tulsa was unable to stop Denver from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cutthroats eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Denver also had goals scored by Troy Schwab and Mikael Tam, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Steve Kaunisto, Sean Zimmerman, TJ Fox, AJ Gale, Cam Reid, and Garett Bembridge, who contributed one each. The Oilers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Denver power plays. Tulsa forced Denver goalie Kent Patterson to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Oilers were helped by Blair Macaulay, who grabbed one goal. Macaulay scored 17:39 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Todd Robinson picked up the assist. Ben Gordon also scored for Tulsa. More assists for Tulsa came via Scott Macaulay, Drew Fisher, and Ryan Barlock, who each chipped in one. Patterson recorded 40 saves for the Cutthroats. Denver incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tulsa's Shane Madolora stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Oilers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
