Engelage stymies Missouri, Arizona wins 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Andrew Engelage helped the Arizona Sundogs defeat the Missouri Mavericks, 3-1.

The win by Arizona broke a deadlock and gave the Sundogs a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Arizona was paced by Michael Trebish, who finished with one goal. Trebish scored 12:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Arizona. David Rutherford picked up the assist.

The Sundogs kept Missouri's goalie busy throughout the game, and Shane Owen made 38 saves on 41 shots.

Arizona also got points from Rutherford, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Arizona also got a goal from Kevin Baker as well. In addition, Arizona received assists from Mike Forney, Matt McCready, Shawn Limpright, Alex Tuckerman, and Brandon Coccimiglio, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks' offense rang up 32 shots on Arizona's net.

Missouri was led by Andrew Courtney, who scored the team's only goal. Courtney scored on the power play 7:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. An interference penalty on Tommy Maxwell had put the Mavericks on the power play. Matt Stephenson provided the assist.

Andrew Engelage made 31 saves for the Sundogs on 32 shots. Arizona incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Missouri incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
