Missouri falls to Brampton after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Brampton Beast battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.

Brampton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Beast trailed 3-1 after a goal by Missouri's Mike Ramsay at 5:03 in the second period. Brampton tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Scott Howes at 1:15 in the third period. The Beast got the game winner at 6:03 in the third period on a goal by Howes.

Howes had two goals to lead Brampton to victory.

The Beast put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.3 they average per game.

Brampton also got points from Steve Ward, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Jason Pitton as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Tylor Michel, Matt Caruana, Frank Littlejohn, and Jamie VanderVeeken, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Ramsay, Trevor Kell and Andrew Courtney took 24 of the team's 41 shots.

Others who scored for Missouri included Eric Castonguay and Evan Vossen, who each put in one. More assists for Missouri came via Dave Pszenyczny, Obi Aduba, Sebastien Thinel, and Colt King, who contributed one each.

Grant Rollheiser rejected 38 shots on goal for Brampton. The Beast avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays. Missouri's Shane Owen stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
