The Brampton Beast tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 3-2 victory. A goal by Eric Castonguay put Missouri up 3-0 in the second period, but Brampton pulled to within one on Josh McQuade's tally 16:37 into the third period. The Mavericks relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Andrew Courtney, Trevor Kell and Castonguay took 12 of the team's 23 shots. Missouri was led by John-Scott Dickson, who grabbed two goals. Dickson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:51 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. The Mavericks had taken the advantage when the Beast's Thomas Stajan got sent off for goalie interference. Kell picked up the assist. Dickson's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Missouri with 1:51 left in the second period. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Mathieu Gagnon and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one each. Brampton managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Beast ended up below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Brampton put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.9 it averages per game. In addition, Brampton received assists from Tylor Michel and Steve Ward, who each chipped in one. Shane Owen rejected 37 shots on goal for Missouri. The Mavericks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kristofer Westblom took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Grant Rollheiser who made two saves. The Beast registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
