The Denver Cutthroats' AJ Gale had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Brampton Beast. Gale scored at 44 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Denver and again while 13:00 into the second to make the score 5-2 Denver.Denver forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. The Cutthroats had been averaging 18.0 minutes in penalties per game. Denver relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Garett Bembridge, Vincent Arseneau and Gale took 23 of the team's 44 shots. Denver also got points from Aaron MacKenzie, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kyle Fletcher also scored for Denver. More assists for Denver came via Robin Soudek and Cam Reid, who each chipped in one and Steve Kaunisto and Troy Schwab, who contributed two a piece. The Brampton penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Beast had been spending in the box. Brampton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cutthroats to score on any of their eight power plays. The Beast were helped by Frank Littlejohn, who tallied one goal. Littlejohn scored 4:10 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Denver. Michael MacIsaac picked up the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Jason Pitton as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Steve Makway and Scott Howes, who each chipped in one. Denver's John Griggs stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Grant Rollheiser took the loss and made 27 saves before being replaced by Kristofer Westblom who made 12 saves. Brampton registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
