Rapid City blows out Tulsa, 5-0

The Tulsa Oilers had trouble finding ways to stop Rapid City, which beat Oilers, 5-0.

Rapid City was led by Kevin Harvey, who finished with one goal and one assist. Harvey scored 4:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Winston Day Chief assisted on the tally.

Rapid City featured an improved defense during the game. Rapid City allows 2.8 goals per game. Rapid City was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 11 chances with a man advantage.

Rapid City also got points from Day Chief, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Anthony Perdicaro, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Rapid City also had goals scored by Jesse Schultz and Jared Brown, who each put in one. More assists for Rapid City came via Riley Weselowski, Brett Kostolansky, and Eric Giosa, who contributed one a piece.

The Tulsa penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 61 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Oilers had been spending in the box. Tulsa stifled Rapid City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Oilers' offense operated below they season average. Tulsa puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

The Oilers were led by Drew Fisher, who took four shots.

Tim Boron made 22 saves for Rapid City on 22 shots. Rapid City ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Rapid City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Perdicaro was ejected from the game. Tulsa's starting goalie, Shane Madolora, made 12 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Brad Fogal, who stopped nine shots. The Oilers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
