Quad City vanquishes Rapid City in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Jeff Lee netted the deciding goal for the Quad City Mallards in the shootout as Mallards prevailed over Rapid City, 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams.

Quad City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rapid City to score on any of its four power plays.

The Mallards were helped by Mike Stinziani, who tallied one goal. Stinziani scored 3:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Justin Fox provided the assist. Quad City also had goals scored by Nicholas Rioux and Thomas Frazee, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Gabriel Levesque, Gergo Nagy, Matt Duffy, and Nick Grasso, who each chipped in one.

Quad City was unable to stop Rapid City from sending pucks towards the net, and Rapid City eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Rapid City was helped by Scott Brannon, who had one goal. Brannon scored 17:37 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Justin Faryna picked up the assist. Others who scored for Rapid City included Konrad Reeder and Eric Giosa, who scored one goal each. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Winston Day Chief, who had two and Riley Weselowski, Justin Sawyer, and Sean Erickson, who contributed one a piece.

Ty Rimmer made 32 saves for the Mallards on 35 shots. Quad City totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Tim Boron rejected 21 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
