Huge game by Ramsay boosts Missouri over Allen, 5-2

Behind a great game by Mike Ramsay, who had two goals and one assist, the Missouri Mavericks defeated the Allen Americans, 5-2.

Ramsay's tallies came on the power play at 10:55 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Missouri and on the power play 15:17 into the third to make the score 4-2 Missouri.

Missouri was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and three majors for 65 minutes in penalty time. The Mavericks surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Missouri excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Mavericks put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.6 they average per game.

Trevor Kell also scored for Missouri. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Jeff Buvinow, Matt Stephenson, Andrew Courtney, John-Scott Dickson, and Colten Hayes, who each chipped in one and Eric Castonguay and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed two a piece.

Allen racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 13 minors and three majors for 91 minutes in penalty time. The Americans had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. By firing 30 shots on goal, Allen exceeded the 23.6 shots it averages per game this year. The Americans' defensemen bolstered Allen's offensive attack, as they bombarded Erno Suomalainen with 14 shots.

The Americans were helped by Garrett Klotz, who finished with one goal. Klotz scored 19:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ben Power assisted on the tally. Allen also got a goal from Alex Lavoie as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Kale Kerbashian, Jamie Schaafsma, and Jonathon Zion, who each chipped in one.

Suomalainen recorded 28 saves for Missouri. The Mavericks registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Missouri ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stephenson was ejected from the game. Allen's Mark Guggenberger stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. For the Americans, Klotz was ejected from the game.
