Denver hangs on, beats St. Charles 1-0

The Denver Cutthroats took the lead against the St. Charles Chill in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 1-0 victory.

Sean Zimmerman provided Denver with the game-winning tally when he scored 18:37 into the the first period. Vincent Arseneau assisted on the tally.

The Cutthroats were boosted by Kent Patterson, who turned in a shutout with 30 saves. Patterson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.68 entering the contest.

Denver was sparked by Zimmerman, who racked up one goal.

The Cutthroats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Denver's defense was surprisingly good. The Cutthroats allow 3.0 goals per game. By firing 39 shots on goal, Denver exceeded the 24.3 shots it averages per game this year.

Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Kyle Fletcher, who had one.

St. Charles stifled the Cutthroats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chill's offense operated below they season average. St. Charles puts an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. The Chill put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 18.5 they average per game.

St. Charles was led by John Snowden, who took six shots.

Denver incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Chill's Linus Lundin stopped 38 shots out of the 39 that he faced. St. Charles incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
