Arizona wins tough contest against Allen, 4-2

The game between the Arizona Sundogs and the Allen Americans was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Arizona emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Sundogs gained the winning advantage on a goal by Riley Emmerson 12:22 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Arizona was led by Emmerson, who had one goal.

The Sundogs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The 35 shots that Arizona put on net surpassed the Sundogs' average of 20.9 shots per game this season.

Arizona also got points from Bryan Cameron, who also registered one goal and one assist and Justin Pender, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Matt McCready also scored for Arizona. More assists for Arizona came via Kevin Baker and Josh Harris, who each chipped in one and Garrett Clarke and Jason Morgan, who contributed two a piece.

Allen's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 18 shots on net during the game. The Americans put 41 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.0 they average per game.

Allen was helped by Jonathon Zion, who registered one goal and one assist. Zion scored on the power play 5:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Allen. The Americans had gained a power play chance when Morgan was whistled for hooking. Jonathan Lessard assisted on the tally. Allen additionally got points from Alex Lavoie, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Allen received assists from Mike Berube, who had one.

Andrew Engelage made 39 saves for Arizona on 41 shots. The Sundogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bryan Pitton rejected 31 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
