Denver survives Arizona comeback, wins 4-3

The Arizona Sundogs almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Denver Cutthroats managed to pull out a 4-3 win in the end.

Denver led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Cutthroats' Daniel Barczuk's scored at 3:51 in the second period to put Denver up 3-0.

Garrett Bembridge was all over the ice for the Cutthroats, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Bembridge scored 8:59 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Denver. Troy Schwab assisted on the tally.

Denver put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.0 it averages per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Matt Glasser, who had one and Aaron MacKenzie, who had two.

The 41 shots that Arizona put on net surpassed the Sundogs' average of 23.1 shots per game this season.

Arizona was helped by David Rutherford, who grabbed one goal. Rutherford scored on the power play 10:48 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Denver. The Sundogs had taken the advantage when the Cutthroats' Nic Polaski got sent off for tripping. Brandon Coccimiglio picked up the assist. Arizona additionally got points from Bryan Cameron, who also had one goal and one assist and Kevin Baker, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Arizona received assists from Matt McCready, Jordan Clendenning, and Paul McIlveen, who contributed one a piece.

Kent Patterson rejected 38 shots on goal for Denver. The Cutthroats totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Chris Rawlings made 21 saves for Arizona on 25 shots. The Sundogs totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
