Missouri outlasts Rapid City, 4-3

The game between the Missouri Mavericks and Rapid City was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Missouri emerged with a 4-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Sebastien Thinel's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Thinel had one goal and two assists to lead the Mavericks. Thinel scored on the power play 51 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Missouri. Eric Castonguay assisted on the tally.

Missouri's penalty kill excelled, as the Mavericks gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Missouri also got a goal from Mike Ramsay as well. In addition, Missouri received assists from Tyler Currier, who had one and Matt Stephenson, who had three.

Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Scott Wray, Sean Erickson and Winston Day Chief took 14 of the team's 27 shots.

Rapid City was helped by Tristin Llewellyn, who tallied one goal and one assist. Llewellyn scored 4:28 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Rapid City. Bob Preece picked up the assist. Rapid City additionally got points from Day Chief, who also registered one goal and one assist and Konrad Reeder, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Rapid City came via Jesse Schultz, who had one.

Missouri's Shane Owen stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Keaton Hartigan made 19 saves for Rapid City on 23 shots. Rapid City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
