Missouri outlasts Rapid City, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Missouri Mavericks escaped with a 4-2 victory over Rapid City.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and John-Scott Dickson secured the win for Missouri with a goal in the third period.

Dickson had a great game for the Mavericks, netting two goals.

Missouri's penalty kill excelled, as the Mavericks gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Others who scored for Missouri included Mike Ramsay and Andrew Courtney, who scored one goal each. In addition, Missouri received assists from Matt Stephenson, who had three and Dave Pszenyczny, Eric Castonguay, Rob Kleebaum, and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City averages 31.4 shots on goal per game, but only sent 23 pucks on net against Missouri. Rapid City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Rapid City was led by Sean Erickson, who tallied two goals. Erickson scored the first of his two goals at 11:33 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brett Kostolansky provided the assist. Erickson's next tally made the score 2-1 Rapid City with 3:27 left in the second period. Rapid City had gained a power play chance when Colten Hayes was whistled for diving. Konrad Reeder picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Winston Day Chief and Jesse Schultz, who each chipped in one.

Shane Owen rejected 21 shots on goal for the Mavericks. Missouri incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tim Boron recorded 23 saves for Rapid City. Rapid City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
