The Mallards' penalty kill excelled, as Quad City gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Mallards were paced by Gabriel Levesque, who registered one goal. Levesque scored 19:08 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Quad City.

Quad City stifled St. Charles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mallards' offense operated below they season average. Quad City averages 3.5 goals per game. The Mallards forced the Chill goalie Robert Moss to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

St. Charles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Quad City to score on any of its six power plays. The Chill could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Charles puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. The Chill relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jordan Fox, Kyle OKane and Ryan Berard took 12 of the team's 19 shots.

The Mallards' Thomas Heemskerk stopped 19 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Quad City ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Moss rejected 32 shots on goal for St. Charles. The Chill ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
