Bootland's goals lift Allen to 3-1 victory over TulsaAllen Event Center Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Allen Americans relied on the scoring touch of Darryl Bootland, who netted two goals, to beat the Tulsa Oilers, 3-1. Bootland's tallies came at 9:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen and 17:05 into the third to make the score 3-1 Allen.Allen was led by goalie David Brown, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Brown will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.47. The Americans' penalty kill excelled, as Allen gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Americans stifled Tulsa's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Allen relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Kale Kerbashian, Phil Fox and Bootland took 22 of the team's 42 shots. In addition, Allen received assists from Alex Lavoie, who had two and Gregor Hanson, Jamie Schaafsma, and Trevor Ludwig, who contributed one a piece. The Oilers stifled the Americans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tulsa's offense operated below it season average. The Oilers put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Tulsa forced Allen goalie Brown to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Oilers' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 14 shots between them. Tulsa was led by Michel Beausoleil, who scored the team's only goal. Beausoleil scored 5:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tulsa. Ben Gordon picked up the assist. The Americans incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Shane Madolora made 39 saves for the Oilers on 42 shots. Tulsa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
