Arizona rides Engelage to victory over Brampton, 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Andrew Engelage helped the Arizona Sundogs defeat the Brampton Beast, 3-1.

Arizona was led by Justin Pender, who racked up one goal. Pender scored 8:53 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Arizona. Sebastien Geoffrion provided the assist.

The Sundogs stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Arizona got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Ian Schultz also scored for Arizona. More assists for Arizona came via Henric Hoglund, Jason Morgan, and Joe Tolles, who each chipped in one.

The Beast's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Arizona power plays.

Brampton was led by Brett Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored short handed 7:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. The Beast found themselves down a man on Steve Ward's slashing. Rob Collins picked up the assist.

Engelage recorded 25 saves for the Sundogs. Arizona ended with 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors. Kristofer Westblom rejected 18 shots on goal for Brampton. The Beast totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
