Denver vanquishes Tulsa in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

The Denver Cutthroats and the Tulsa Oilers both failed to score in overtime, but Denver won the game 3-2 (3-2 SO) after Steve Kaunisto's deciding goal in the shootout.

The two teams needed 36 turns to complete the shootout. Tulsa got shootout goals from Thomas Beauregard and Ben Gordon. In addition to the clincher, the Cutthroats got shootout goals from TJ Fox and Garrett Bembridge.

Denver overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cutthroats trailed 2-0 after a goal by the Oilers' Ryan Cramer at 1:45 in the second period. Denver tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by A.J. Gale at 9:27 in the third period.

The Cutthroats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Gale, Bembridge and Kaunisto took 14 of the team's 27 shots.

Denver also got a goal from Jean-Philipp Chabot as well. In addition, Denver received assists from Troy Schwab, who had two.

Tulsa relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Todd Robinson, Gordon and Michel Beausoleil took 20 of the team's 38 shots.

Ryan Menei also scored for Tulsa. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Eric Tallent, who had one.

Kieran Millan recorded 36 saves for Denver. The Cutthroats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Oilers' Ross MacKinnon stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Tulsa incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
