Miller's goals lift Missouri to 6-2 victory over Allen

The Missouri Mavericks relied on the scoring touch of Kenton Miller, who netted two goals, to beat the Allen Americans, 6-2.

Miller found the back of the net 6:40 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Missouri and again while 12:34 into the first to make the score 3-0 Missouri.

Missouri evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

Penalties took their toll on the Mavericks, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Andrew Courtney, John-Scott Dickson and Miller took 10 of the team's 15 shots.

In addition, Missouri received assists from Colt King, who had three, Kyle Hood, J.P. Testwuide, Kellen Tochkin, Sebastien Thinel, and Riley Emmerson, who each chipped in one, and Blake Forsyth and Ryan Jardine, who contributed two a piece.

Allen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Americans were led by Anthony Maiani, who grabbed one goal. Maiani scored on the power play 19:18 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Missouri. Allen had gained a power play chance when Testwuide was whistled for tripping. Trevor Ludwig picked up the assist. Darryl Bootland also scored for Allen. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Kale Kerbashian and Todd Robinson, who each chipped in one.

Mike Clemente recorded 25 saves for the Mavericks. Missouri ended with 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and two majors. For the Mavericks, King was ejected from the game. Steve Silverthorn made six saves before being replaced by Aaron Dell, who took the loss and made three saves. The Americans ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major.
