Allen falls to Missouri in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Andrew Courtney gave the Missouri Mavericks a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Allen Americans when he scored 34 seconds into the extra period.

After the loss made the series score 2-3 in the best of seven series, Allen faces elimination next time out.

Courtney was all over the ice for Missouri, as he had two goals in the win.

The Mavericks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Americans to score on any of their three power plays. Missouri forced Allen goalie Aaron Dell to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Colt King also scored for Missouri. In addition, Missouri received assists from Ryan Jardine, who had two and Brandon Smith, Dave Pszenyczny, Kyle Hood, and John-Scott Dickson, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans' defensemen bolstered Allen's offensive attack, as they bombarded Mike Clemente with 12 shots.

The Americans were helped by Brian McMillin, who tallied one goal. McMillin scored 17:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Allen also got a goal from Trevor Hendrikx as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Mike Berube and Todd Robinson, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks' Clemente stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Missouri incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Dell rejected 36 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
