Missouri boosted by Corbiel's play in net, beats Allen 5-1

The Missouri Mavericks relied on the sparkling performance of Mathieu Corbiel in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Allen Americans.

Missouri was led by goalie Corbiel, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Corbiel certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.31 entering the contest.

The Mavericks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Allen to score on any of its four power plays.

Missouri was led by Sebastien Thinel, who registered one goal and two assists. Thinel scored 1:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. Missouri also got points from Kellen Tochkin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Dave Pszenyczny also scored for Missouri. In addition, Missouri received assists from Trevor Kell, who had two and J.P. Testwuide, Ryan Jardine, and Evan Zych, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Allen had been spending in the box. The Americans did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Allen averages 3.2 goals per game. The Americans gave up more goals than its normal season average. Allen gives up 2.2 goals per game. The Mavericks were unable to stop the Americans from sending pucks towards the net, and Allen eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

The Americans were led by Jim McKenzie, who scored the team's only goal. McKenzie scored 12:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1.

Missouri totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 3-for-8 on the power play. Aaron Dell took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Steve Silverthorn who made two saves. For Allen, Jarret Lukin was ejected from the game.
