Fort Worth earns hard-fought 1-0 win over Quad City

The Fort Worth Brahmas and the Quad City Mallards played 60 tight minutes of hockey, but in the end it was Fort Worth that came away with a 1-0 victory.

Adam Hogg provided the assist on the the contest's lone goal.

The win by the Brahmas clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Fort Worth was paced by Shawn Szydlowski, who finished with one goal. Szydlowski scored 9:59 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Fort Worth. Hogg picked up the assist.

The Brahmas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Quad City power plays. Fort Worth kept Quad City's goalie busy throughout the game, and John Murray made 38 saves on 39 shots.

The Mallards stifled the Brahmas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Quad City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Shayne Toporowski, Patrik Levesque and Matt Carlson took 11 of the team's 19 shots.

Fort Worth's Kristofer Westblom stopped 19 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Brahmas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Mallards incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Quad City, Anthony Perdicaro was ejected from the game.
